About Egao Insecticide EGAO Insecticide belongs to the avermectin group of insecticides. Recommended on various crops for control of caterpillars and Thrips. EGAO is primarily a stomach insecticide also having trans-laminar movement. It is highly effective for controlling all stages of larva and on resistant pest species. EGAO Insecticide Technical Details Technical Name: Emamectin Benzoate 5% SG Mode of Entry: Stomach and Contact action Mode of Action: EGAO due to its translaminar activity penetrates leaf tissues and forms a reservoir within the leaf. It inhibits muscle contraction, causing a continuous flow of chlorine ions in the GABA and H-Glutamate receptor sites. Affected larvae become paralyzed and stop feeding shortly after exposure to Insecticide and subsequently die after 2-4 days.
