Basta 15 SL is a non-selective, post-emergent herbicide recommended for use in perennial weed management in plantations such as tea. Highly versatile, it performs consistently across varied climatic conditions. Since Basta 15 SL is a contact herbicide, it provides enhanced crop safety when compared to other non-selective options. It also delivers superior performance against difficult weed species that may not respond to commonly used herbicides.

Mode of Action

Glutamine synthetase catalyses the conversion of ammonia (NH₃) and glutamic acid into glutamine. Ammonia originates from nitrate reduction, amino acid metabolism and photorespiration. Glufosinate-ammonium inhibits this enzymatic activity, causing NH₃ to accumulate within cells. Because NH₃ is highly phytotoxic, cells begin to die, leading to necrotic spots and eventual plant withering.

Wilting in mixed weed flora may begin within 24 hours in tropical regions, while in cooler climates (spring or autumn), visible symptoms may take up to 8 days.

Apply Basta 15 SL @ 2.5 to 3.3 L/ha as a post-emergent herbicide. Spray when weeds are in active vegetative growth or flowering stage. Use a spray shield to avoid drifting onto tea bushes.
