Ceylon Onion is an erect and vigorous variety known for its uniform bulbs, attractive dark red color, and mild pungency. It matures in 90 to 100 days after transplanting and is well-suited for commercial cultivation with proper field and nutrient management.

📌 Tips for Growing Onion

• Soil: Well-drained sandy loam
• Sowing Time: August to November
• Transplanting: 40 – 45 days after sowing
• Spacing: 10 cm x 10 cm (Row x Plant)
• Seed Rate: 2.0 kg per acre

🚜 Field Preparation

• Deep ploughing followed by 1–2 harrowings
• Apply 7–8 tons per acre of well-decomposed FYM and incorporate well
• Apply basal dose of fertilizer at the time of transplanting
• Irrigate the field before transplanting and then place seedlings
