Tips for Growing Cauliflower

Soil:

Well-drained medium loam or sandy loam soils are ideal for cauliflower cultivation.

Sowing Time:

As per regional practices and seasonal timings.

Optimum Temperature for Germination:

25°C to 30°C

Transplanting:

25–30 days after sowing.

Spacing:

• Row to Row: 60 cm
• Plant to Plant: 45 cm

Seed Rate:

100 – 120 grams per acre

Main Field Preparation:

1. Deep ploughing followed by harrowing.
2. Add 7–8 tons per acre of well-decomposed FYM and mix thoroughly using harrowing.
3. Open ridges and furrows as per spacing requirements.
4. Apply basal dose of chemical fertilizers before transplanting.
5. Irrigate one day before transplanting.
6. Make planting holes at desired spacing.
7. Transplant in late afternoon for better survival.
8. Provide light irrigation after transplanting for quick establishment.

Fertilizer Management:

• First Dose (6–8 days after transplanting): 50:50:60 NPK kg/acre
• Second Dose (20–25 days after first): 25:50:60 NPK kg/acre
• Third Dose (20–25 days after second): 25:00:00 NPK kg/acre
• Micronutrients: Spray Boron & Molybdenum at curd initiation stage
