📦 Package of Practices

🔹 Pre-Planting Preparation

• Pit Marking: Ensures sunlight, spacing, and intercropping potential
• Planting Methods:
  • Square Method: 25 ft × 25 ft spacing (~70 seedlings/acre)
  • Triangle Method: 25 ft apart, ~75 seedlings/acre (denser planting)
• Pit Size: 3’ × 3’ × 3’ (or 4’ in rocky soil)
• Pit Filling:
  • 15–20 kg green/dry leaves
  • Topsoil (1 ft)
  • 10–20 kg FYM
  • Neem Cake (0.5 kg)
  • 2 kg Vermicompost
  • Biofertilizers: 100 gm each of Azospirillum, Pseudomonas, Phosphobacteria, Trichoderma viride

🔹 First 6 Months Management

• Watering: 30–60 liters per plant depending on soil type and stage
• Fungicide Spray: Blue Copper (5 gm/L water)
• Soil Management: Regular tilting, weeding, and shade protection
• Sun Hemp: Sow 200 gm for shade and mulching benefits
• Fertilizer (4th Month): NPK 130:200:200 gm + 10 kg FYM + 1.25 kg Neem cake

🔹 7–24 Months Management

• Regular watering (up to 100 L/palm/day)
• Progressive NPK application (see below)
• Beetle and worm control using Sevidol, Phorate, or Pheromone traps
• Monthly checks for pests/disease and girth/leaflet/height measurements

📈 NPK Schedule

🌿 After 24 Months – Adult Tree Care

• Fertilizer/year: N-2.5 kg, P-2 kg, K-3.5 kg
• FYM: 50 kg + Neem Cake: 2 kg per year
• Apply in 4 split doses (quarterly)
• Biofertilizers: 250 gm each of Azospirillum, Pseudomonas & Phosphobacteria – twice/year

💧 Watering

Maintain average of 100 liters/day/palm for best yield.

🌾 Micronutrient Management

• Magnesium Sulphate: 250 gm/tree every 6 months (100 gm for young plants)
• Borax: 200 gm/tree/year in two split doses
• Zinc: 200 gm/year/tree

🌱 Organic Farming Note

Organic practices can improve soil quality, but yield data for 100% organic coconut cultivation is still under validation. A mixed approach using both organic and inorganic inputs is currently recommended.
