NS 680 SWEET CORN
🌾 Fertilizer & Irrigation Management for Corn
🧪 Fertilizer Management
- Recommended N:P:K ratio: 48:24:20 kg per acre for optimal yields.
- Basal Dose: Apply all Phosphorus (P), Potassium (K), and 1/3 of Nitrogen (N) at sowing.
- Top Dressing: Split the remaining Nitrogen into two equal doses:
- First dose: 35–40 days after sowing
- Second dose: At tassel emergence stage
- Zinc Supplement: Apply Zinc Sulphate @ 10 kg per acre at basal stage.
- Organic Matter: Incorporate 8 metric tons per acre of well-decomposed FYM/compost before sowing to enhance soil fertility and yield.
💧 Irrigation Schedule
- Irrigate every 6–10 days depending on soil type and weather.
- Avoid over-irrigation or water stagnation, especially during the first 30 days after sowing.
📌 Critical Irrigation Stages
- Just after germination
- Knee-height stage
- Pollination stage
Note: Maintaining soil moisture from pollination to grain-filling stage is crucial for higher yields and disease tolerance. In heavy soils, apply light and frequent irrigations. Adjust irrigation frequency based on local climatic conditions.
