🌾 Fertilizer & Irrigation Management for Corn

🧪 Fertilizer Management

• Recommended N:P:K ratio: 48:24:20 kg per acre for optimal yields.
• Basal Dose: Apply all Phosphorus (P), Potassium (K), and 1/3 of Nitrogen (N) at sowing.
• Top Dressing: Split the remaining Nitrogen into two equal doses:
  • First dose: 35–40 days after sowing
  • Second dose: At tassel emergence stage
• Zinc Supplement: Apply Zinc Sulphate @ 10 kg per acre at basal stage.
• Organic Matter: Incorporate 8 metric tons per acre of well-decomposed FYM/compost before sowing to enhance soil fertility and yield.

💧 Irrigation Schedule

• Irrigate every 6–10 days depending on soil type and weather.
• Avoid over-irrigation or water stagnation, especially during the first 30 days after sowing.

📌 Critical Irrigation Stages

1. Just after germination
2. Knee-height stage
3. Pollination stage

Note: Maintaining soil moisture from pollination to grain-filling stage is crucial for higher yields and disease tolerance. In heavy soils, apply light and frequent irrigations. Adjust irrigation frequency based on local climatic conditions.
