NS 8601 SWEET CORN
Fertilizer Management
For best yields in corn cultivation, follow the recommended fertilizer schedule:
- Recommended N:P:K ratio: 48:24:20 kg per acre.
- Basal Application:
- Apply all of Phosphorus (P) & Potassium (K), and one-third of Nitrogen (N) at the time of sowing.
- Apply Zinc Sulphate at 10 kg per acre.
- Apply 8 MT per acre of well-rotted organic manure or FYM (Farm Yard Manure).
- Top Dressing of Nitrogen:
- 1st dose: Between 35–40 days after sowing.
- 2nd dose: At tassel emergence stage.
Irrigation Schedule
Provide regular irrigation every 6–10 days, depending on soil type and climate conditions. Avoid over-irrigation and water stagnation especially in the first 30 days.
Critical Stages for Irrigation
- Just after germination
- Knee-height stage
- Pollination stage
- Grain development stage
Note: Maintaining adequate moisture from pollination to grain filling is crucial for better disease resistance and higher yields. In heavy soils, prefer light and frequent irrigation. Adjust irrigation frequency based on local environmental conditions.
