Nursery Practice:
- Prepare the nursery bed soil to a fine texture and mix well-rotted compost with a small portion of fine sand.
- Make shallow grooves 7–8 cm apart and 0.5 cm deep on level nursery beds.
- Sow the seeds in the grooves and cover lightly with compost.
- Water the bed using a Captan solution (3g/liter of water).
- Cover the nursery bed with newspaper sheets immediately after sowing.
- Germination starts within 4–6 days. Remove newspaper sheets during the evening once germination begins.
- Seeds can also be sown in plug trays using coir peat to develop healthy seedlings with root balls.
- Seedlings are ready for transplanting into flower beds or larger pots after 3 weeks.
