PIONEER RED SANDALWOOD SEEDS
Red Sandalwood (Pterocarpus santalinus)
Pterocarpus santalinus, commonly known as Red Sandalwood, Red Sanders, Red Saunders, Rakta Chandana (Indian), Lal Chandan, Ragat Chandan, Rukhto Chandan, and Undum, is a small tree native and endemic to the southern parts of the Eastern Ghats in India. It typically grows 5–8 meters tall with dark grayish bark.
Red Sandalwood timber is highly valued both domestically and internationally, especially in East Asian countries. It is widely used for carvings, furniture, poles, and house posts. The rare “wavy” grain variety is prized for its acoustic qualities and is used in the manufacture of high-end musical instruments.
