Field Preparation
- 1–2 harrowings followed by deep plowing
- Apply 7–8 tons/acre of well-decomposed farmyard manure (FYM)
- Ensure proper mixing of manure with soil before transplanting
Fertilizer Schedule
- Basal Dose (at transplanting): 30:30:30 NPK kg/acre
- 20 days after planting: Top dressing – 25:25:25 NPK kg/acre
- 45–50 days after planting: Top dressing – 00:00:25 NPK kg/acre
- 40–50 days after transplanting: Apply Sulfur (Bensulf) – 10–15 kg/acre
Harvesting & Post-Harvest
- Stop irrigation 2 weeks before harvest
- After harvest, leave bulbs in the field for 5–6 days for natural drying
- Cover bulbs to avoid sun-scaling
- Remove roots and neck after drying, but do not cut necks too close to the bulb
